A British Invasion: Crosby Street Hotel

If we had to think of a character from Sex and the City that might appreciate the Crosby Street Hotel in New York, it is probably Charlotte. She would love the proper mix of British flair and contemporary design giving the hotel a whimsical vibe. The eclectic and elegant property is a collection of 86 rooms and suites with bright and airy accommodations. Floor-to-ceiling windows are perfect for people watching below. The bathrooms are spacious and fitted with luxurious grooming products from cult London perfumer Lyn Harris. Subtle details like dress-maker mannequins and frames of fashion prints make the Crosby a stylish address on one of the quieter streets of the bustling Soho neighborhood. In typical Tim and Kit Kemp style, the British hoteliers behind the Firmdale group of hotels, the main lobby is full of antiques and artwork that makes one feel as though they are in the home of a well-travelled friend. An honour bar sits at one end and a personal butler tends to all your needs should you decide to settle in front of the fireplace and dine in. The lobby-level living space opens onto an inviting garden that is a hidden oasis from the busy city life outside. The hotel’s restaurant comes alive with its bright hanging lanterns and boldly patterned seating. Impressive sculptures from Spanish artist Jaume Plensa sit in the lobby and the group of papier-mâché dogs aren’t the only four-legged creatures in the hotel, as pets are welcome. The boutique property has been on numerous travel ‘hot’ lists and continues to charm New York’s Sex and the City-types and visitors alike with its distinctive British style.
