Exploring the Village of Èze

A Postcard from Purvi D. Shah

While traveling through the south of France, my husband and I explored the romantic medieval village of Èze. Here, we leisurely strolled through narrow winding pathways, stopping periodically to peek inside the charming boutiques filled with vintage wine, soap, art, and perfume. We even came across an elderly man selling spices on a cart. Along the last stretch of our hike towards the top of the village, we stumbled upon an old baroque-style church with a bell tower and creamy façade. Inside, I wondered about the men and women who had similarly passed through its heavy doors over the centuries. When we reached the highest vantage point, we were rewarded with a magnificent view of the Côte d’Azur. The water was sparkling blue with a few mega yachts peppered in the distance. We ended the day with champagne on the terrace of the famed Château de La Chèvre d’Or. The hilltop village of Èze is a fairytale setting that literally took my breath away. ~ Purvi @purvidshah
